Kassel, December 19, 2023: An Article 9 fund advised by EB – Sustainable Investment Management GmbH (EB-SIM) is investing in three wind farms in France with a total capacity of 72 megawatts (MW). The purchase comprises 21 state-of-the-art wind turbines in the Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions of France.

Axpo subsidiary Volkswind developed the three wind farms Aiguillettes (18.0 MW), Moulin Berlémont (28.8 MW) and Pâtis aux Chevaux (25.2 MW), which are equipped with Nordex and Vestas turbines, and commissioned them in 2022. After the sale, Volkswind will continue to take over the technical and commercial management of the portfolio. EB-SIM will act as advisor to the fund and will support it in the management of the plant after the transaction is completed. The parties have agreed not to disclose the sale price. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the first half of 2024.

“By investing in projects in France, Spain, Portugal, Germany and many other European countries, we are supporting the European Union’s climate targets. Our aim is to achieve both an ecological and an economic return for the investors in all the funds we advise and manage,” says Dr. Bernhard Graeber, Managing Director and Head of Alternative Assets at EB-SIM.

Katja Stommel, Head of the Wind division at Axpo, says: “One of Axpo’s three strategic pillars is to drive forward the energy transition and develop renewable energy sources. We are pleased that we have once again succeeded in selling an attractive wind farm portfolio in one of our key markets and thus creating value from the implementation of this strategy. Our business in France has a well-filled development pipeline.”

The PV project has a planned capacity of 15.59 megawatts peak and is to be built with bifacial monocrystalline Perc PV modules with tracking from the manufacturer Risen Energy and inverters from the market leader Huawai. The PV park will also include the construction of an 8.65-kilometer transmission line connecting the project to the feed-in point at the entrance to the next largest town.

In total, the electricity generated by the project can avoid around 12,540 tonsof CO2 equivalents per year based on Portugal’s national electricity mix and supply around 10,800 four-person households.

“We thank EB-SIM for the trust they have placed in us,” says Antonio Lima Teixeira, owner and CEO of Teixeira & Lima, S.A. “We are very pleased to continue implementing the project together with EB-SIM, providing high level technical services to the PV park and preparing further development aimed at the installation of a future wind farm as part of a hybridization process
