Successful 2nd closing for EB-SIM and Union Investment

In two subscription phases, a total of more than EUR 500 million was acquired for the Article 9 fund. The current portfolio is well diversified with 14 projects.

Kassel, July 31, 2024: EB-SIM and Union Investment successfully achieve second closing for the UniInstitutional Alternative Energien S.A. SICAV-RAIF – Regenerative Energien 1 (Regenerative Energies 1). In total, the two asset managers have raised more than EUR 500 million for the fund from institutional investors in two subscription phases. The current portfolio is currently well diversified in 14 different projects by technology, region and remuneration type. The first distributions are expected as early as 2024.

The fund jointly launched by Union Investment and EB-SIM is classified in accordance with Article 9 of the EU Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). It is characterized by its broadly diversified investment structure. The fund supports climate protection and focuses on the established technologies of wind power, photovoltaics and hydropower in stable core European countries – currently Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. It invests exclusively in projects that are already in operation or fully approved and ready for construction.

The projects are actively managed by a team of experienced portfolio managers from EB-SIM. 82% of the capital subscribed in the first closing has already been drawn down. The fund’s investment speed is significantly faster than originally forecast. The fund management is aiming for an annual target return (net IRR) of 5.5% to
6.5%.
