Kassel, June 19, 2024: The asset manager EB – Sustainable Investment Management GmbH (EB-SIM), which specializes in sustainable investments, is stepping up its engagement activities and joining the international investor network Shareholders for Change (SFC). The members of SFC work together to promote positive change at companies in the areas of environmental, social and governance (ESG).
“It is an honor for EB-SIM to be included in this highly respected group of pan-European investors. We look forward to working with the other members in collaborative engagement,” says Dr. Oliver Pfeil, Spokesman of the Management Board and Chief Investment Officer of EB-SIM. “This will strengthen our engagement activities, especially in the international environment, as we are now gaining like-minded partners in Europe. This strengthens our access to company management. Thanks to the combined assets of all members, we will also be heard more strongly.”
In 2017, institutional investors joined forces to form the international Shareholders for Change network. The intention of all members is to bring about positive change at companies in the ESG area in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SFC’s commitments focus on three main topics: Workers’ and human rights, tax practices and tax justice, andCO2 emissions and climate change. Its current 19 members manage a total of 45 billion euros.
EB-SIM has been successfully engaging with companies in which it has invested for many years. As an impact specialist, it primarily uses targeted corporate dialog. In order to bring about the most positive sustainable changes possible, EB-SIM combines its own engagement with collaborative engagement by joining forces with other investors. In 2023, it supported over 140 joint engagements with ISS ESG and the Arbeitskreis Kirchlicher Investoren, participated in two CDP engagement campaigns and initiated five individual engagements. As a new member of the SFC, EB-SIM will also participate in various engagement activities of the investor network in future. In particular, this includes active dialog with European companies to support their sustainable transformation.
