EB-SIM realigns its strategy
EB-SIM is responding to changing market conditions and is undergoing a strategic realignment in the sixth year since its spin-off from Evangelische Bank.

- Focus on high-yield, sustainable multi-asset funds and renewable energy investments
- AI-supported EB ESG score enables forward-looking assessment of the sustainability of companies
- Entry into new technologies in the real assets sector
The asset manager, which specializes in sustainable investments, will strategically realign itself in future and focus on its high-yield, sustainable and actively managed multi-asset funds in the area of liquid investment strategies. This is where EB-SIM’s track record sets it apart from the competition.
Michael Hepers, Managing Director and Chief Customer Officer, says: “Through our strategic realignment, we want to strengthen our product quality and continue to grow. With our extensive expertise in the areas of sustainable multi-asset funds and investments in renewable energies, we can offer private and institutional investors the best possible financial added value over the long term. In future, EB-SIM will also offer individual components (the equity and bond strategies) of its high-performance multi-asset concept as individual funds. Investors can also combine these themselves as desired”
Chief Investment Officer, Sebastian Kösters, adds: “The use of AI-supported methods to identify sustainability risks combines our value foundation with financial added value for investors. In this way, we integrate sustainability aspects into the portfolios without having to forego a broadly diversified investment universe for our multi-asset solutions.”
EB-SIM’s flagship fund, EB-Sustainable Multi Asset Invest (EB-SMAI), has been one of the best-performing multi-asset products on the market for years[1] with a particularly balanced risk/return profile. The more flexible variant, EB-Sustainable Opportunities Fund, is based on the proven multi-asset allocation model of EB-SMAI, but does not have an upper limit for equities. This is intended to enable higher performance contributions and distributions in the long term.
As part of its focus, EB-SIM will discontinue a number of smaller investment products that no longer fit the strategy. For example, the asset manager already closed the EB-Sustainable Short Duration Fund last year.
Sustainability that pays off financially for investors
Sustainability is and remains a central component of EB-SIM’s brand and corporate strategy. It consistently adheres to its exclusion criteria. The asset manager is also integrating its new, AI-supported EB ESG Score into the investment process. This innovative tool enables a forward-looking assessment of the sustainability of existing and target companies.
EB-SIM has developed the EB ESG Score to compensate for the weaknesses of established sustainability ratings. To this end, it combines the comprehensive, fundamental sustainability assessment of traditional ESG ratings with a news-based sustainability indicator. EB-SIM calculations show that investors with sustainable portfolios are systematically exposed to lower risks.[2] The EB ESG Score can therefore help to ensure that sustainability pays off financially for investors.
Further growth and new funds in the Real Assets segment
EB-SIM also intends to continue its growth trajectory in the area of illiquid investments (real assets) under the leadership of Managing Director Dr. Bernhard Graeber. Here, funds advised by the asset manager invest in renewable energy plants and infrastructure projects that drive forward the energy transition. EB-SIM currently manages investments in more than 50 projects in Germany and seven other European countries.
With the Quadoro Renewable Energies Europe (QEEE), EB-SIM now also enables private investors to invest indirectly in technology for the generation of renewable energies and the energy transition. In addition, EB-SIM also offers a pure infrastructure debt product for institutional investors, the EB Clean Energy Debt Fund, which achieves an attractive risk/return ratio by financing energy transition projects.
EB-SIM will continue to expand its investment strategies in the Real Assets segment by entering into new technologies. In addition to wind energy, hydropower and photovoltaics, other energy transition topics such as the heating transition are increasingly coming into focus. The asset manager has already made three investments in sustainable heating networks in 2024.
